Pressed Latino Sandwich Shop and Café

Pressed Sandwich Café is amazing!  This café is located at 4845 Oakton Street in Skokie, IL.  Here is their website: https://pressedsandwichcafe.com/
I love their steak sandwich with fried, pressed plantains in lieu of bread, which makes it known as a jibarito rather than a sandwich.  I have allergy to wheat and cannot eat many breads.  Fried, pressed plantains as an alternative to sandwich bread is excellent for people like me.  The owner adds a bit of a coarse salt, almost like a sea salt, on top of the sandwich; it is delicious.  I love to cook and hardly use salt in my cooking, but I appreciate a nice, coarse salt as a small addition to a meal.  The steak is tasty, and I recommend asking for sliced pickles and mustard in the jibarito.

I also like to order a custom-made chicken jibarito, which is very different than how it appears in the menu.  I request grilled red and yellow bell peppers and onions in my chicken jibarito.  I also ask for American cheese.  This is by far my favorite jibarito.  I typically order this with the homemade Yuca fries. The yuca fries come with a homemade garlic sauce, which is scrumptious!

Pressed Café also has delicious pastries.  There is one that looks like a croissant and is filled with guava.  Yum!  Of course it is homemade, as is the majority of everything they offer in the café.
